Histoire


• En 1820, à l'âge de 15 ans, "John Walker" ouvre une épicerie fine à Kilmarnock en Écosse qui bientôt allait devenir célèbre dans le monde entier pour la qualité de son whisky.


• Très vite son intérêt se porta sur la production de whisky dont les procédés de distillation donnaient naissance à l’époque à des whiskies de malt à la qualité plutôt aléatoire.


• S’inspirant des techniques de sélection utilisées pour le thé, il eu l’idée d’expérimenter l’association de malts à caractère très variés afin d’obtenir des whiskies plus équilibrés et plus réguliers.


• "John Walker" véritable pionnier, venait de révolutionner l’univers du scotch whisky.

 

• En 1908, le "Striding Man" ("L'homme qui marche") devient l'emblème de la marque.

• La famille "Walker" chercha à élaborer un whisky d’une qualité inégalée incarnant toute la philosophie de leur maison.

 

• De ce travail fut créer "Red Label" mélange de plus de 40 whiskies de grain et de Singles malts.

 

• En 1909, la gamme est renommée d'après les couleurs de leurs étiquettes respectives :

→ Blue = bleue

→ Red = rouge

→ Black = noire

→ Green = verte

→ Gold = or 

 

• En 1920, la marque est déjà présente dans 120 pays du monde.

Autres informations


• Le logo de la marque est le fameux "Striding Man" (dit le "Dandy") dont l'histoire raconte qu'il n'arrêtait pas de marcher.
